Why your long-tail Amazon affiliate link isn't tagging on Instagram
Amazon is Meta's first retail partner for catalog-based product tagging — but the partnership covers a curated slice of Amazon's catalog, not the full marketplace. If your affiliate link points to a product outside that curated set, native paste-link tagging won't find a match.
Works with your own Amazon Associates tag, LTK, and ShopMy. No app review.
What's actually live, and what isn't
Meta's catalog-tagging feature is live now on Facebook, with Amazon as the first retail partner in the US. Instagram support is announced as "coming next" and in testing per Meta's own blog — not yet confirmed live. Just as important: the official Amazon × Meta catalog partnership is a curated integration, not a feed of Amazon's entire marketplace. A long-tail product — one outside that curated set — has no matching catalog entry, so pasting the link won't tag it, on Facebook today or on Instagram once it ships. The affiliate link itself still works fine for driving sales; it's the catalog match Instagram's picker needs that's missing.
